Face blur

Blur Faces in a Photo

Paint over every face you want to hide and blur it locally in your browser. No upload, no account, no waiting for a server.

Blur a face now

Hide a face without sending the photo anywhere

Blurring a face is the quickest way to share a photo without exposing the people in it: group shots, classroom photos, screenshots of chats, or pictures of minors.

This tool does the work on your own device. Load an image, switch to partial blur, and paint over each face. The masked areas are blurred on a canvas and exported as a new file, while the rest of the photo stays untouched.

Partial blur

Only the areas you paint are blurred, so the rest of the photo keeps its detail.

Brush and eraser

Set the brush size, paint a mask, then erase the strokes that cover too much.

Three blur styles

Gaussian, motion, and radial blur, each with light, medium, and heavy presets.

How to blur a face

Four steps, all inside the browser tab.

  1. 1

    Upload one photo

Drag a file into the upload area or click to browse.

JPG, PNG, WebP, and GIF files are supported. Partial blur works on one image at a time.

  2. 2

    Switch to partial blur

Choose Partial blur in the mode tabs so only the painted mask is blurred.

Full blur softens the entire frame; partial blur leaves everything outside the mask sharp.

  3. 3

    Paint over the face

Draw on the canvas until the face is covered in red, then tidy the edges with the eraser.

The brush size slider controls the stroke width. There is no undo history, so the eraser is how you correct a stroke.

  4. 4

    Choose a style and download

Pick a blur type and preset, check the preview, then download the processed PNG.

Presets apply 5px, 15px, or 30px of blur, and the preview updates as soon as you change them.

What you control

One mask, many faces

Keep painting until every face in the frame is covered. Each painted area is blurred with the same settings.

Light, medium, heavy

The three presets apply 5px, 15px, or 30px of blur, enough to hide recognisable features while keeping the photo readable.

Gaussian, motion, radial

Gaussian is the neutral choice for redaction; motion and radial add a directional or vignette-like look.

Local by design

The image is read from your disk, drawn to a canvas, and exported from the same tab. Nothing is sent to a server.

How to Use

1

Upload an image using the upload zone on the left

2

Choose blur mode – Full blur for global edits, Smart blur for auto text detection, or Partial blur to draw by hand

Face blur questions

Is the photo uploaded to a server?+

No. The image is opened locally, blurred on an HTML canvas, and exported from the same tab. Refreshing the page discards it.

Can I blur more than one face in the same photo?+

Yes. The mask is a single painting layer, so paint over every face you want to hide. All painted areas use the same blur type and preset.

Which blur style works best for faces?+

Gaussian blur with the medium or heavy preset hides recognisable features while keeping the photo natural. Motion and radial blur are more stylised and better suited to artistic edits.

How do I fix a stroke that covers too much?+

Switch to the eraser and paint over the part of the mask you want to remove. There is no undo history, so the eraser is the way to correct the mask.

What format is the blurred file?+

The processed image is exported as a PNG named after the original file with a _blurred suffix.

Can I draw the mask with a finger or a stylus?+

Mask drawing currently uses mouse events only, so a desktop or laptop gives the most control. Touch drawing is not supported yet.
