Frequently asked questions

Do I need X Premium for this to work?

For reliable results, yes. The drag-to-reorder feature is part of X Premium's long-form posting features. Without Premium, the image order may be unpredictable.

Why can't I reorder images on mobile?

The drag-to-reorder interface only works on desktop web. The mobile app doesn't have the drag handles. Always compose these posts from a computer.

Why do images show as a grid on the timeline?

That's how X displays multiple images in the feed. The vertical stacking only appears after someone taps your post to view the expanded version.

Can I change the order after posting?

No. Image order can only be set before you post. Once published, the arrangement is permanent.

How many images work best?

2 or 4 images work best. Two creates a simple top/bottom split. Four (2×2 grid) is the most popular format and offers more creative options.

What image dimensions should I use?

Use tall images with roughly 1:2 ratio (width to height) for 2-image splits, or 1:2 to 1:4 ratio for 4-image splits. Our tool handles any size and shows previews.

Will my images lose quality?

No. We extract tiles directly from your original image without recompression. What you upload is what you get.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. All processing happens locally in your browser. Your images never leave your device. You can verify this in your browser's network tab.

Why are there visible seams between tiles?

This usually happens with manual cropping that's off by a pixel. Our tool calculates exact dimensions to ensure pixel-perfect splits with no visible seams.

What can I use this effect for?

Popular uses include: tall artwork displays, comic strips, before/after reveals, vertical infographics, panoramic photos, and visual storytelling.
