What's New?

Previously, Squoosh preserved the original format of your images during compression. While this worked great for most use cases, many users needed to convert images to more efficient formats like WebP or AVIF for web optimization.

With the new Output Format feature, you can now:

  • Auto (default): Keep the original format, just like before
  • JPEG: Convert to JPEG for maximum compatibility
  • PNG: Convert to PNG for lossless quality
  • WebP: Convert to WebP for excellent compression and broad browser support
  • AVIF: Convert to AVIF for cutting-edge compression efficiency
